Q&A with Bijou Diamond Jewellery Director Adam Brown

How did you start Bijou? - I was introduced to the diamond industry through a family friend where I started out dealing in loose stones. As much as I enjoy the natural beauty of diamonds, there was something very appealing about creating something to showcase that beauty. That is how I first began exploring jewellery and the process of making jewellery. 

Why diamonds? - They’re fascinating. With every diamond being different and having its own characteristics I find they all have their own personality.

What three qualities best describe you? - Driven, loyal and perfectionist.

What is your favourite piece of jewellery you have created? - That would be my Wife’s engagement ring- a stunning oval with a delicate halo and diamond set band. I like the idea of maximising the impact of the diamonds, I’m not a fan of chunky designs and prefer more elegant settings where your attention is drawn to the beauty of the diamonds.

Do you have a favourite part of your job? - I love being a part of important milestones in our clients’ lives, for example, creating bespoke engagement rings.  To be involved in the process of designing a beautiful engagement ring that culminates in a marriage is special, it is very rewarding to see how happy it makes people.

What is a typical day for you? - Each day varies massively which keeps things exciting. I can be meeting clients for bespoke pieces all over the country to spending time at our workshop, every day is different.
