Round Brilliant Cut

The round cut diamond makes up approximately 75% of the world's diamonds making it the most popular shape by a long way. The round or 'brilliant' cut diamond offers the greatest reflection of light making stones appear brighter than other shapes.

Due to the high demand of round diamonds, prices for this shape are usually around 30% more compared with fancy shapes. We have a strict list of criteria a stone must adhere to in order for it to be sold to our clients. Here are the features we look for in a round shape:

  • Excellent/Very Good Cut
  • Excellent/Very Good Symmetry
  • Excellent/Very Good Polish

These parameters allow the stone to have the maximum life and sparkle, creating a bright, large looking stone. This is especially important in a round stone as the spread is not as great as some of the fancy shapes.

For Colour grading on round shape diamonds we only look at stones that appear very white to the naked eye. We never venture past an H colour as we feel that is the point when a colour tinge can become noticeable. We feel G and H colours are the sweet spot for negligible colour and maximising your budget.

  • G/H Colour

Clarity is also very important to us. A lower clarity stone can appear murky and have very little life and sparkle due to the inclusions (imperfections within the diamond) reducing the efficiency of light reflection. Even though most of the time an SI clarity stone will look amazing, we strongly believe in high quality over size with diamonds. We feel VS clarity stones are the best options for creating stunning luxury pieces that will go recognised, yet still offer clients the ability to look at larger stones.
